Mary-Ann has a classical background and is passionate about supporting students to develop their self confidence, technique and musicality within a range of musical styles.

Mary-Ann’s holistic approach integrates theory, sight reading, aural training, singing and movement and with younger students, she also incorporates storytelling. Mary-Ann enjoys teaching children, adults and actively encourages young children or students with special needs to learn how to play the piano. Mary-Ann prepares interested students for AMEB exams and provides opportunities for students to share their music by playing for others at soirees.

Given Mary-Ann’s interest in the broader education of children, she actively engages students in reflective thinking and problem solving when approaching the piano and music in general, so that students develop greater insight into how they learn, practice and play.

“Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything.”
